Kyiv. July 2, 2002. INTERFAX-UKRAINE – Softline, a Ukrainian software developer, won a tender to be the prime contractor for development and implementation of software for the unified web portal of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
According to the press service of the government, to create certain informational services and meet information security requirements, the company will attract as subcontractors the State Informational Security Center, the Meta search engines developer (Kharkiv), and the League informational and legal portal.
The UGF International Investment Fund owns a 51 % stake of Softline and 63.3% stake of Meta (assets of the fund are managed by SigmaBleyzer).
The press service notes that software development for the unified web portal is the first step in creating an “e-government”. Its implementation will give the public an efficient day-and-night access to sources of government information and will make the activities of the government more open.
The users will be able to obtain information on the activities of the central and local authorities, as well as of the state and private companies that cater for the immediate needs of the population (utilities, law enforcement agencies, health care, educational establishments, and infant schools).
Softline has been developing software in Ukraine since 1995. Its clients are state agencies and companies in Ukraine, the USA, Switzerland, Russia, and Uzbekistan.
