Melitopol /the Zaporizhya region/, August 9, 2002 /Ukrinform/
The Melitopol Tractor Hydro Units Plant signed its first contracts to supply its products to Egypt and Hungary. According to the correspondent of Ukrinform, the expansion of the market is part of the program aimed to achieve break-even point and double the output. This program was developed by specialists of the company and experts of international investment company SigmaBleyzer, which manages a controlling stake in the company. According to information from the Kharkiv office of SigmaBleyzer, over the first six month of 2002, the plant increased its production and sales volumes by 15% as compared to the same period in 2001. Its current annual production volume amounts to UAH 1.5 million; in 2003, it will reach UAH 3 million.
The plant produces about 25 types of tractor hydro units, which are in good demand, as they are used for repairing various types of agricultural machinery (which was earlier produced in the USSR and supplied to different foreign countries), as well as for completion of new tractors, harvesters, and other agricultural machinery. Today, 80% of the sales structure is taken by spare parts. The plant is working with its traditional customers and clients in Russia (where it has three distributor offices), Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan. It also supplies products to the Baltic countries. Negotiations are underway with potential clients in Bulgaria. Total export amounts to about 50%.
